Eloping in Moorea: a wedding for two, nothing more

Eloping in Moorea: a wedding for two, nothing more

They could have gone the traditional route. A venue, a guest list, eighteen months of planning and a spreadsheet for everything... They chose something else entirely. Saying I do on Moorea, just the two of them, with two witnesses as their only guests.

And honestly? It might be the most powerful wedding we've been part of this year.

A morning at the town hall, stripped down to what matters

It all starts simply. A light dress, a red hibiscus tucked behind her ear, a fresh flower lei for him. At the town hall, no crowd, no endless protocol. Just two people signing, two witnesses smiling, and an emotion that needs no audience to feel real.

That's what surprises most couples who elope in French Polynesia. They expect an administrative formality. What they get is a moment suspended in time.

A barefoot ceremony in the lagoon

Then, straight to the water. Woven crowns and leafy garlands, a ceremony with their feet in the lagoon, the witnesses standing a few steps away. No added decor... it was already there. Clear water, coconut palms, the light slowly turning gold.

That's what getting married on Moorea feels like. Nature does what no wedding designer ever could.

The day ended facing the sunset, at golden hour, when everything slows down and the light turns to honey. Two silhouettes against the lagoon. Nothing else. Everything there.

Previews the very next morning

Like every wedding we photograph, the newlyweds received their first images the morning after. Because that kind of joy should never sit on a hard drive for three weeks. It deserves to be relived, shared, savored while it's still warm.

What if this was your wedding?

You don't need eighteen months of planning or a budget that makes your head spin. To get married, you need very little. The two of you. A yes. A place that feels like yours.
