Denish reached out with one idea in mind. Ask Bhasi to marry him. Deep in nature, away from everyone, up in the mountains of Moorea.

And one instruction. She loves green. "I'm going to give her an emerald."

That was it. No endless brief, no three-page mood board. Just that. The colour of the stone in the ring. The rest, he trusted us to build.

That is often where everything happens. In the one sentence a client gives you, and in everything sitting behind it.

A detail is never just a detail

Bhasi loves green. We could have stopped there, tucked some foliage into a bouquet and moved on. We did the opposite. We pulled the thread.

Green is her favourite colour. It is also the colour of her eyes. It was the dress she would wear that day (though we did not know that yet). And it was the stone Denish had chosen for her.

The same green, four times over, without either of them planning it. When a thread repeats like that, you do not work around it. You build everything from it.

The setting was already there

Then came the answer. With what? With Moorea.

We looked for a spot up in the hills. Not the beach, not the lagoon, not the postcard everyone pictures. Denish wanted real nature. Pineapple fields, mountains, green all the way to the horizon. The island gives that freely. Thank you, Moorea.

We also needed the exact place. Ground that let Denish get down on one knee without a second thought. A detail like that, badly planned, can undo a whole moment. We found the right spot before she did. Before he did, even.

The real work is keeping the secret

On the day, we set up. A natural mat laid in the grass. Floral arrangements built in three tones: green, white and pink. Green for her. White and pink to warm the scene, so the moment felt soft, not just literal.

Two glasses, French champagne, exactly as Denish wanted. Late afternoon light dropping over the fields. Everything ready.

And through all of it, Bhasi suspected nothing. That is the heart of the job. Not the flowers. The secret. Making sure she arrives, discovers, and only understands at the very last second.

Understanding a client is not about what to photograph

People often ask what we put in our images. The real question is elsewhere. Not what. Who.

Denish did not order a beautiful proposal. He wanted to give Bhasi a moment that looked like her. Our job was to translate that. To turn one sentence, she loves green, into a whole scene that spoke to her without a word of explanation.

When she said yes, everything was already in its place. Without her ever having to ask.

From the mountains to the lagoon

Once she said yes, we left the hills behind. We headed for a beach, still framed by mountains, just as Denish wanted, for the last frames. The mountains first, the lagoon after. Two faces of the island in one session.
