Returning to Tahiti with family, years later
Some places keep a trace of who you were the first time.
For them, it was French Polynesia.
They had come as newlyweds. The lagoon, the sunsets, the edge of the world. A honeymoon, plain and simple.
Then life put things on pause. The kind of chapter you leave behind. They had promised themselves they would come back when it was all far behind them, and no longer just the two of them.
This session is that day.
The circle closes
We met at the Tahiti Lagoon Resort, Moorea on the horizon. Low light, a calm lagoon, that blue Polynesia keeps for itself.
Their child ran across the sand, head underwater to watch the coral. That world they had wanted to show them.
Nothing set up in advance. Only what was real.
What can't be directed
A look between them. One hand in the other, just like on that first trip. The kind of thing no pose can manufacture.
A flower crown, feet in the sand, Moorea keeping watch. My job that day: read the light, and be there at the right moment.
A session that brings everyone together
That is what it comes down to, really. Not one more picture. A before and an after, held in the same frame. They had come back to where it all began.
The rest belongs to them.
