A golden hour maternity session in Tahiti
There's a moment, right before. Before everything changes. Before two becomes three.
For a first pregnancy, that moment never really comes back. When Céline and Guilhem reached out, they already knew what they wanted to hold onto from this season of waiting: not just a baby bump in front of a mirror, but something real. A true trace of what they were living, the two of them, right before becoming three.
We met at Tahiti Lagoon Resort, late in the day. That timing wasn't random. At that hour, the light never stays the same for more than a minute or two. It starts golden, almost warm, then drifts into pinks and mauves that the lagoon reflects right back like a mirror. That kind of shift can't be planned around a schedule. You can only show up for it.
Before the session, Céline and Guilhem received my preparation guide. What to wear, how to feel at ease, what to expect. Nothing left to chance, so they could arrive relaxed, without that small flicker of nervousness that always shows up on camera.
On site, we took our time. A first look, more polished, for portraits by the lagoon. Then a change, into something simpler, something closer to them, while the sun slipped lower toward the horizon. Between the two outfits, the light had already shifted three times over.
I never checked my watch. We followed the rhythm of the light, not a timeline. By the time the sun finished setting, we had more than enough to tell the story of that evening: soft, easy portraits, a few stolen laughs between frames, and Céline's belly lit by that end of day light that never lies.
When it came to delivery, there was no half sorting, no cap. Every image that says something about that evening made it into a high end gallery that Céline and Guilhem will keep for years. One day, when their child is old enough to look through it, it might be the first time they see what their family looked like... before them.
If you're holding onto a moment like this too, that quiet stretch before everything changes, whether it's a maternity session during your babymoon in Tahiti or simply a moment you don't want to lose, let's talk. Send me a message on WhatsApp or DM, and we'll build a session that tells your before.
